House Spotlight

House of Rocco

At GACC the 7-12 grades are divided into a house system.  There are a total of four houses that include students from every grade.  Each house is responsible for coming up with a name, which as you will notice is a name of a Saint.  The houses are also responsible for creating a crest symbol that represents their cause.  Students participate in house competitions throughout the school year and receive points for activities. Houses also participate in several service projects throughout the year that serve the school, church, and community.

Spotlight #3: House of Rocco

Saint: St. Rocco

We chose the name because he is the patron saint of minor illnesses, and we think the world needs healing

 "sanare mundi" heal the world

Crest Symbols:

cross: stands for family and faith, St. Rocco had a cross birthmark on his chest that his family used to identify him
hands: service, helping others
tree: knowledge
dog: represents healing, a dog brought St.Rocco bread and water while he was sick and living in a cave

House Projects:

during football game days we sell breakfast pizza as a fundraiser to support any service projects we do
we went to the living center and visited with residents, and scraped and repainted fences
we wrote cards thanking vets for their service
we donated Christmas presents to needy families in the community
we organized the homecoming dance

We love to chant! "R-O-C-C-O....ROCCO.....ROCCO"
