Almsgiving Project

Season of Lent 2018

During the Church season of Lent the students at GACC School had an almsgiving project called “Hungry for Change.”  They deposited any loose change in a collection jar that would eventually go to others in need. At the end of the collection the students and teachers donations totaled $700.00. The final amount went to the West Point Food Pantry, and St. Mary’s African Mission in Uganda, Africa.

A check for $200 was presented to Michelle Ulrich for the food pantry, and a $500 check to Diane Leffler and Diane Evert for the African Mission fund.  The moneys collected for Fr. Francis Ssengendo’s St. Dennis School in Uganda will help with the building and furnishing of a girl’s dormitory for their school.  Over these past 5 years through the generous giving of the people of West Point and the students of GACC, Father Francis has been able to build a new school that serves 600 students, accommodations for 14 resident teachers, and now a dormitory large enough to house 100 girls.

Father Francis expresses great gratitude to everyone who has so selflessly contributed to the cause of making educations possible for the children in Nkumba, Uganda.

If anyone feels called to help with this building campaign just contact Diane Leffler or Diane Evert here in West Point.
