August 21, 2017

Total Solar Eclipse 2017 Field Trip Opportunity

Mrs. Doyle will be taking the 8th grade Earth Science students to the University of Nebraska - Kearney for the Great American Eclipse 2017 Watch Party on Monday, August 21. Kearney is said to have one of the best and longest views of the eclipse. North America will have more total solar eclipses in 2024, 2045, and 2099 but none will be visible in Nebraska. The next Nebraska total solar eclipse will not be until 2744. So get your chance to see this amazing event now!

If interested there will be about 20 seats available to 9-12 students. To qualify you will need to have a signed parent permission slip, these will be available in the office on the first day of school. You will also need to write Mrs. Doyle an essay stating that you would like to observe this event with supporting reasons why you are interested and why Mrs. Doyle should pick you out of over 100 students. Send essays to Mrs. Doyle’s email: bdoyle@gaccbluejays.org

Essays are due by 4:00pm Thursday, August 17th. Students chosen will be notified Friday, August 18th.
